In response, 18 peripatetic music teachers from the service formed NEMCO with the full support of the City Council, schools and relevant trade unions to continue offering tuition to schools in the area.
Currently, there are 34 teachers (June 2008). In the development report from the Local Authority 2001 it was quoted that approximately 8% of pupils were learning through Nemco and the numbers of pupils had increased by 28%. Nemco has broadened the range of services provided to schools. Nemco was mentioned on David Blunkett's Website - www.davidblunkett.org.uk and in the Co-operative commission report. We also provide tuition in surrounding authorities.
